I wanted to share my experience with a newly received Pebble Time 2 (backed via Kickstarter) and ask for any insights from the dev / hardware community.
Right after unboxing, I noticed a distinct gap/play on the upper half of the watch body. It’s clearly loose and noticeably flexes whenever the side buttons are pressed.
Yesterday morning, I took a quick cold shower while wearing the watch (expecting it to hold up to the standard 30m water resistance rating. Within 5 minutes, the screen started glitching heavily, and shortly after, it went completely black and unresponsive
I spent time thoroughly drying the unit out and was eventually able to charge it back up. The watch powers on now, but the display is constantly flickering, and the touchscreen has a dead zone in the center area.
Even though it partially revived, it’s clear that if the watch couldn’t handle a simple cold shower (likely due to the loose case seal), relying on it even in heavy rain seems completely unsafe.
Has anyone else encountered a similar gap in the upper casing or display issues after minor liquid exposure? Any suggestions on whether the touch layer might recover once fully dried internally, or is the digitizer cooked?
