PT2 newbie questions

Hi! :waving_hand:

I just unboxed and set up my first ever smart watch, the Time 2. I’m really excited to explore all its capabilities and see how I can benefit from it. I have paired it to my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra running Android 16 / OneUI 8.5 and the official Pebble app.

I have noticed a few oddities and would love some community opinions and maybe pointers to resolve them:

  1. I was excited to see that even though PebbleOS doesn’t have touch functionality yet, some apps do which is great. Is full touch support for OS menus (scrolling, selecting menu items…) planned?

  2. I tried using [Horizon Scout]s compass mode but it does not work. I then installed [Compass] to test the basic functionality and the calibration screen it shows on first startup did not work properly. The little ball is rolling around and creating a circular row of squares but that’s it. I can’t get past calibration. Restarting the watch did not help.

UPDATE: I now managed to get past the calibration screen by tilting the PT2 to basically vertical and then rotating it. Now I get the compass rose but it does not work properly. It seems to react to the watch tilting but if I hold it flat horizontal and rotate, it does not follow.

  3. I loaded up the [Quartz by Dalpek] watchface and I absolutely love it, unfortunately it does not show heart rate even though everything seems to be configured correctly and the watch does show heart rate in the PebbleOS health menu. Is this just something the watchface dev hasn’t implemented yet or is something wrong with my T2?

  4. I tried using [Music Boss] (non-paid to test it) but while it says “Loading…” and I have Spotify running on my phone, the app does not launch or anything.

  5. I then tried setting up [Playback for Spotify] which failed after I fully set up the API app on the Spotify Dev website and entered my Client ID in the Watchapp config dialog. It just says redirect_uri not matching configuration even though I pasted the URI from the devs Playback Setup Guide page.
While troubleshoooting, I deleted the spotify API entry and now it won’t allow me to create a new one for 24h, so this will have to wait.

  6. On some notifications (e.g. Discord, Signal) if I press select and Dismiss I get a splash screen saying “Failed”. Some notifications from the same app I could dismiss this way. Weird.

  7. I wanted to try [skunk] for some membership cards and while the Watchapp launches, the config doesn’t seem to work at all. I’ve now installed [kijete] which works as intended, but still…

Overall, the T2 feels really nice and its core functions (show time/date, receive notifications, etc…) work 100%, I’m just wondering about these little details listed above.

Looking forward to your input!

PS: this post had store links whenever I mentioned some app or face for your convenience but the forum says I can only have two links because I’m new here, soooo sorry.

  1. The compass is super finicky, and can’t be trusted in my experience.

  2. On the Repebble appstore there’s a button to contact the developer. That might be your best bet

  3. You’ve given Music Boss all needed permissions?

  4. Install Skunk from the Rebble appstore instead. That one works fine

  1. Too bad, I hope that is something that can be fixed with future firmware improvements. I’m hoping to use the watch for hikes and motorcycle adventures where I don’t exactly follow a predetermined route but just go in a general direction.

  2. Will try, thanks!

  3. I have noticed that there’s native media control in PebbleOS… maybe I’m just not gonna deal with any media apps.

  4. Can I enable both stores in the settings at the same time? I saw that there’s an option for it but I’m not sure about the consequences and the actual differences between the stores.

Also, I have found another thing:

  5. I have my phone and watch configured to English but communicate mostly in German. When using voice recognition to reply to messages, it tries to interpret my voice input in English even though the voice language setting is “Automatic” and I have voice cloud enabled. Is this a setting thing I can optimize or am I missing something else?

  1. Yes you can enable both. You’ll need to create a Rebble accounh with either Google aor GitHub login.
  2. Core Devices dictation just isn’t that good, unfortunately. Multilanguage dictation is not very consistent
