None basic user manual?

Hi

I had missed years ago the first generation of Pebble. This time I decided to get one and so I have ordered the Time 2.

I plan to use it only with Gadgetbridge.

Having never used a Pebble before, I was expecting to find a short user manual somewhere that would explain the basics about it: how buttons work, basic stuffs to know about the device.

It looks like it doesn’t exist no ?

Thanks

Docs on using the watch itself don’t exist as far as I know. The basics are: left button goes back, up and down on the right side change your selection and center selects. You can hold down every button when the watchface is visible and it will activate specific shortcuts (these can be configured from the watch settings). Briefly press the middle button to get to the system menu, you can open installed apps from there, and change system settings. If an app doesn’t have its icon, and looks like two overlapping squares, you will need to be connected to your phone to reinstall the app. The newer watches don’t have a proper vibrating crystal RTC though so you’ll need to reconnect to your phone semi-frequently to recalibrate the time. That’s the basics. You’ll be able to do things like change the vibration pattern, backlight intensity, etc. from the settings. You can also control music playing on your phone from your watch using the Music app. Calendar events should automatically appear in the timeline and appear as a little banner at the bottom of the screen 15 minutes before they occur

@Flynn Thanks a lot for the quick overview of general use of device, I should be all good with that

Made my order last weekend, waiting impatiently to get shipping notifications :slightly_smiling_face:

For time synchronisation it should not be an issue, i’ll use the watch with Gadgetbridge as I’m doing since years with my Miband devices.

Yup! That’ll work. You miiiight run into issues with initial pairing (you need to flash a firmware build onto the watch to get it to do stuff) but it should go fairly smoothly. Core Devices doesn’t actually mark which of their releases are the latest release, so you’ll have to rely on the release notes from here to see what’s the actual latest releases (they don’t tag them on GitHub or anything)

Well I have found a good tuto on GB website Pebble pairing - Gadgetbridge and on their pairing page for Pebble Pebble Firmware Update - Gadgetbridge they list the page on github so I guess I use the last one avalaible there: Releases · coredevices/PebbleOS · GitHub (the normal_obelix_pvt.pbz file) and it should be good ? :crossed_fingers:

The latest release is not guaranteed to be stable. The version numbers don’t actually mean much so you should reference the changelog link I posted to determine which release version is actually the latest stable release.

hum I’m a little confused as I see no indications on the changelog of versions that would be stale or nos  I guess I select on github the latest published on the changelog so currently 4.31.1 right ?

Oh actually it looks like they started marking the current release as “latest” in GitHub. They weren’t doing that before. So I guess it should be fine to use whatever is marked as the latest release in GH

Hi Vincen,

We have detailed product guides on how to use Pebble Time 2 up on our help site - Pebble Watch - Getting Started Guide | Pebble Help Center

We have guides available:

Might be good to put that in the big links section instead of just in the footer of the main page

Wait lmao the first 3 links are basically identical in content :skull:

Are there other help pages somewhere? I see setup guides and a list of features and that’s it

yes either search or click these to see all the articles.

Oh I see — the UI makes it look like the Getting Started guide is the root of the Watches category but it’s not
