Backlight not bright enough

I like the Pebble Time 2 but I have one problem with it, so far. Outside in the sun and inside in a bright room the screen is clearly visible. Outside at night or a dull day and inside in a dim room I have to use the backlight to see the screen. Even with the backlight set on blinding I find it difficult to read the screen. Part of the problem is my previous watch had a bright OLED display. Another part of the problem is I am 79 years old and I have cataracts.

Can anything be done to increase the backlight, even at the cost of battery power?

I know this isn’t really a solution. But the black and white screen of the Pebble 2 Duo is actually a lot easier to read for me. Significantly higher contrast, even indoors.

I am hoping that a future Pebble OS update can address this option too!

If you haven’t already, try turning off the dynamic backlight. After that, change the intensity setting and it will actually make a difference

I turned off Ambient Sensor and Dynamic Backlight and it made a big improvement. The backlight is now full brightness even in a dim room. Thank you.

It’s a shame there isn’t a relative adjustment for that sensor. It’s either on, or off. For myself the default setting isn’t bright enough either.

I also found that the default was genuinely too hard to read. I’m pretty sure I’m murdering my battery life, but I have dynamic mode off, the backlight set to “blinding” and I have debug mode motion sensitivity on “high”. This gets me 99% of the way to what I had on an Apple Watch and basically the same battery life it seems (about 20% loss in one day :grimacing:).
