Got my lovely new Pebble Time 2 just the other day and am loving it so far, however, I seem to be having an issue with the backlight, and not sure if this is expected behaviour, or if, perhaps, I have a faulty accelerometer.
To turn the backlight on, I either have to press the back key, or flick my wrist REALLY hard. A gentle raise/turning motion from the side does not work to turn the backlight on, and it’s a bit frustrating.
I’ve checked through all the settings:
Wake on Motion: On
Wake on touch: Double tap
Ambient Sensor: On
Dynamic Backlight: On
I’m out of ideas to make it easier on my wrist to see the time. I’ve tried restarting the watch, but this has had no change. I’ve also tried turning off ‘Wake on Motion’, then back on, to no avail.
Any thoughts?
Pebble is connected to an Android phone, running Android 16, if this is important.
Hi Smoozle! The ways to get the backlight to turn on would be:
Receive a notification
Flick your wrist
Tap (or double tap depending on your settings) the screen
Press a button
The difference between an Apple Watch and Pebble watch, for example, is that on an Apple Watch you can slowly rotate your wrist to activate the backlight/screen. On a Pebble watch that’s not how it works.
Let me know if that answers your question and if you had any others!
I was hoping it would be a little more of a ‘gentle’ flick as opposed to wrenching my wrist back and forth. I don’t recall this from my original Time Steel. Maybe it’s just how the watch is positioned on my wrist, or the movement I’m making that’s causing it to not work so well.
