Some thoughts after Pebble 2 Duo use

Been using Pebble 2 Duo now since launch. And it’s a mixed experience.

First of all it’s is very nice to have notifications accessiible on your hand. Even though I’m pretty strict about allowing notifications on my phone. But having the ability to easliy dismiss some notifications as less important fast and quick is so nice. Have had that experience before but with WearOS and AsteroidOS, but the cost of constantly charging the watch was an inconvenience that resulted in i didn’t had the watch on me most of the time. The watch it self is slightly smaller than I expected it to be which is very nice. I bought a Pebble Time 2 and considering the increase in size, I’ll wonder which watch I’ll settle for.

I’m now used to the stiff buttons, and don’t find them to hard to press but they can probably be improved. However the physical buttons are superior to a small touch screen I had before. Quick Launch and it’s improvements is so nice to have. Also change song without picking out you phone or looking at your watch, just the buttons.

Having read about the fragility of the buttons, I was in the begining very careful not to use the fingernails and now it’s muscle memory not to use my nails. Now that summertime is aproaching it will be intressting how well it fare with much more abuse.

Battery life seams to be about 20-21 days not so about 75 % of the promised 4 weeks battery life. I hope improvement is coming, and the 4 weeks isn’t a overselling marketing ploy.

The watchfaces and apps seams to have taken of a little bit recenty. Settled with Pebble Mesh, now that it shows weather forecast with a flick of the wrist which is very nice to have. Some apps are great such as Flights, Muninn, Abfahrt, TOPTer, Member cards so it show some promise that the comunity will provide useful apps.

But the speaker still doesn’t work which is unfortunate because it would be very welcome to have the alarm (which I find useful) make some sort of sound. Shouldn’t this be fixed before churning out new products and devices?

The inability to sync or import my phone calendar to show in Timeline, it’s sort of a big bummer. And I hope and expect this to solved rather soon. The Timeline feature isn’t very useful as of now, but it could be so, very much.

Now I feel that a Pebble 3 Duo with the same size, with smaller bezels, color display, metal casing and buttons. Would probably be the perfect smart watch.

Hey, thanks for posting on the forum! It’s always great to hear feedback.

Would you mind submitting a bug report in the Pebble app (Settings → Get Help → New Bug Report) regarding syncing your phone calendar to Timeline? We’d be happy to look into that and walk you through things.

Hi, my experience with the original pebble Time battery life wass that using watchfaces that incorporate weather information consumed more energy than the ones without.
