I’m exited to get my Index 01 hopefully in the couple of months. It seems that it’s the only thing that really fits my use case.
I read on the FAQ page that if the button is pressed but there is no audio, the app will say “Transcription failed”. In a world where the battery is rechargeable, that’s fine. In a world where the battery is one-time-use only, I worry that the button will accidentally be pressed and held for several minutes in a pocket or if I decide to wear it to sleep.
The question: is there some kind of safeguard against long-term accidental presses? Meaning, will the ring notice that the button was pressed for, let’s say 10 seconds, with no audio and then cut the battery until the button is released and pressed again? Something like that? Otherwise, one accidental “laying something next to your ring that accidentally holds the button down overnight” could render the ring useless with an empty battery in no time.
