Hi Pebble team,
I’d love to see Pebble Time 2 support the phone’s native voice assistant directly from the watch, similar to the Phone Assistant functionality on Garmin Venu 3/4.
The ideal UX would be:
- Long-press a configurable Pebble button
- Pebble triggers the phone’s default assistant
- Speak using the Pebble Time 2 microphone
- Microphone audio is routed to the phone over Bluetooth
- Hear the assistant response through the Pebble Time 2 speaker
- Work while the phone stays in a pocket, including when locked if the phone assistant allows lock-screen access
For example, on Android with Gemini:
Hold Pebble button → “Add milk to my shopping list” → Gemini → Google Keep
Or:
“Create a meeting tomorrow at 15:00” → Gemini → Google Calendar
The important part is that Pebble would not need any Gemini-specific integration. It could expose itself as a Bluetooth hands-free / assistant-capable accessory and let Android or iOS handle whichever assistant the user has configured.
Something conceptually like:
PT2 button → phone assistant trigger → HFP/SCO audio → phone assistant → audio response → PT2 speaker
This would be much more useful than implementing individual integrations for Keep, Calendar, Tasks, messaging, etc., because the phone assistant already has access to those services.
It could potentially also form the foundation for hands-free calling support on PT2.
The Time 2 already has the key user-facing hardware — microphone, speaker, physical buttons and Bluetooth — so this seems primarily like a PebbleOS/Bluetooth-stack capability.
Would HFP / SCO audio or a generic “Phone Assistant” mode be technically feasible on Pebble Time 2, or is anything like this already on the roadmap?
