I can reply to a text message so the functionality exists I just cannot initiate a text message which to me is one of the prime functions I love about the Pebble watch. I was able to do this obviously in the old pebble but for some reason this feature is being delayed either by using beeper to facilitate it or some other developer being able to get it to work.Apps like Awear is most loved in the App store but I can’t get it to work on my pebble time steel.

Thanks for the note! Sending a test message (on Android only, not possible on iOS see Apple restricts Pebble from being awesome with iPhones) is definitely on the roadmap (here - How To Build A Smartwatch: Software - Setting Expectations & Roadmap )

All I get from Awear is “Loading…" for about a minute and then stops and I get the watch app screen.
Ah it probably requires a companion app, which is no longer available.
Loved the feature and look forward to it working (otherwise loving the new App) - I used this one very often having canned responses and knew with muscle memory e.g. paying at grocery shops & leaving for home hold down middle button, confirm it’s wife I want to send to, choose, “On my Way!” And glance to see the folded paper plane whooshing!

I agree, I did have my favorite contacts in a list and I could send a text message to any of them through muscle memory. Never really needed to look at my watch to send a text message off. In my mind it made Pebble such a different experience from other watches.
