Only Button Press Events for Smart Home

Hey there

nice product first of all, love it for taking notes/brain dumping daily!

I was wondering if I miss something or anything is planned in that direction: Is/ will it be possible to capture only the button press event and call a webhook e.g. for smart home use cases? The webhook, as I see it, currently always sends the recording/transcription/both to a URL. However, what would be super cool is to trigger a webhook if pressing twice, three times/four times the button to e.g. open a garage door or do what ever. This does not need the transcription.

Best & thanks

Strongly +1 this! I’m running Index gestures into Home Assistant via a self-hosted webhook relay for smart-home actions (locks, lights, garage door) — double-click-and-hold is wired up and working well for “ask a question / run a command” style actions.

The gap I keep hitting: gesture-to-webhook routing is tied to the same trigger that also sends the recording/transcription, so there’s no clean way to say “single click = fire webhook only, no audio needed” for a pure smart-home trigger. Exactly the two-click/three-click/Four-click garage-door-style use case OP describes.

Would love to see webhook triggers decoupled from transcription entirely — i.e. any click-count/hold combination can be assigned to “fire webhook with no audio payload” as its own option, independent of which combos are reserved for voice capture. Even a simple settings toggle per-gesture (“send audio: yes/no”) would unlock a lot of smart-home use cases without asking for full custom gesture mapping.

LOVE the product and the support!!! Thanks so much Pebble Team!!!

Adding my support for this. I want to be able to triple-click the button to have all of my lights turn off when I go to bed. I was so sure that it was already a thing that I setup the automation to do it, and then became very disappointed when I couldn’t find the setting on the Pebble side!

I second this! I made my own post about something very similar before I saw this!
