Enhancement of the “Backlight on Tap” feature: Once the Backlight has been turned on, an option to turn the backlight off again with a tap/double tap. This is particularly helpful at night, if you have taken a brief look at the watch, and now no longer need the backlight on. I know it is already possible to have a set timeout that is shorter/longer set in settings, but it would be evern more user friendly to simply initiate the backlight through a tap/double tap and then perform the same action to turn the backlight off again.
Someone else also suggested covering the whole screen with your hand like what Apple Watch does, that seems like it could be good too, since double-tap is already a used gesture in the Music app

For that, the watch would need a sensor which, in my opinion, it doesn’t have.
You don’t think it could be done with the touchscreen?
When implementing this, you’d need to know exactly which areas of the touchpad are being touched. I imagine it would be difficult to trigger all of them at the same time with your hand.
I suspect that other watches solve this using a proximity sensor.
Fun fact, knowing exactly which areas are being touched is exactly what a capacitive touchscreen excels at! Also the threshold for turning off the backlight doesn’t need to be that every single touch segment is being touched. That would be too finicky
However, simply hovering your hand over the screen wouldn’t be enough, you’d have to cover a large area of the touchpad, and once a certain threshold was reached, the backlight would switch off. Yes, that might well be possible 
Yeah. I never said hovering. I meant (and the original person meant) that you wourd cover the watch by physically touching it
On the Apple watch you literally slap your whole hand on the screen. 
I don’t know if that’s just detecting that every area is being touched or if it’s something fancier. It’s a very good bit of user interaction (if that’s the right term) because it feels very natural imo.
The Mi band 8 has this and pretty sure just touch
