I think a product I’d really like to see in the future is a health / fitness oriented pebble. Essentially every smart watch on the market does whatever they want with your data and you have little to no say over that. For health and fitness data that gives me a bad icky feeling.
I think pebble is in a good position to offer a sensor packed product that can allow you to monitor your health and fitness without fear of data harvesting. A suite of more advanced o2, EKG, temperature, step counting, blood pressure or respiratory sensors (Or any combination of them, or ones I didn’t mention) would be awesome.
This is awesome! And this is kinda what I think would be great about it, the team doesn’t even need to make all of these dashboards or algorithms digest the data. They just need to give us more sensors to work with and the community can fill out of the software needs for it!
I own a Garmin Venu 2 Plus. Is it a wonderful watch? Yes! It is masterfully engineered. And all those specs! Everything you mentioned is there. But all this is vying for your attention. And there’s no end to all those ‘perfect’ watch faces in the Garmin Connect app. After wearing it for two years I find that I don’t really care about those specs that actually want to tell me how I should feel at any moment: stress levels, heart rate, body battery, oxygen level, sleep score, you name it. Can make you stressful.
What’s the point?
It’s like the same old song all over again only presented in a different way. “I want to be as…”.
I DON’T. I want to be “ME”. I’m not perfect and I know my new Pebble Round isn’t going to be. And I like that feeling
In the last 10 years, more people, including myself, have gotten in the habit of monitoring their resting heart rate and overnight average SpO2. This is good thing if you are over 75 like me. Therefore, I think it is wise for Pebble to offer at least one model watch that has those sensors. However, there must be a way to disable those features for those who want better battery life.
