Countdown Timers got a new bug?

I use the countdown timer a lot. Multiple times a day- watering things, cooking things, etc.

It used to be that when I hold my button down to go to Timer
I get a list of my most often used, and retained, timers.
(with my eyesight getting old- this interface being larger woudl be nice)

Then, when I select one, it woudl enter that timer and it USED to show me the Timer in big, bold numbers. Like 20:00

Now every timer, when I enter it, says 0:00 at the top (which is dumb)
And then shows me the length in a smaller indicator at the bottom.

I never noticed the number at the bottom before because it USED to show me, in big numbers at the top, 20:00, and then when I click “Play” (center button) it counts down.

Now it says 0:00, and when I click Play, the large display THEN changes to 20:00, and counts down.

I have watches that haven’t been updated yet and I canconfirm that this is a NEW (dumb) change or a bug. I’m hoping it’s a bug that can be fixed so when you enter a timer- the time remaining is displayed.

Maybe it’s just a lack of “resetting” the timer when it rings at zero and the person turns it off.
So when we re-enter it, a day later, it’s STILL at zero, till we click play.
But then, why would we “start” a timer with NO time on it. That’s dumb.

So I think adding code that when I timer is finished, and the person stops the ringing, it’s reset in the Timer app.

When you said Countdown Timer, I thought you meant the one developed by Sykero Software, which is the one that I use.

I don’t have a solution for you but I want to thank you for pointing me to a great app I didn’t know yet. I hope the behavior you described gets fixed, then it’d be an even better timer. If it’s inteded, maybe it can be made into a setting.

Seeing the countdown time big at the top Confirms I picked the right timer and then I tell it to play.
Seeing zero at the top- is confusing.

Does anyone from Pebble read these forums, or are users just talking to themselves?

Some Core Devices read posts occasionally. The best way to reach out to them for mugs is by submitting a bug report in the app or by submitting an issue in GitHub. I’m not sure if they create GitHub issues from internal bug reports though

Hearing that the Core Devices team “may” check in tells us it is a bit all over the place. Users in user groups (like Facebook) posting issues, and then there’s the Discord, the RePebble forums, the Rebble forums, the GitHub, submitting in the Pebble app, contacting a watchface designer directly, probably direct e-mail, and I’m sure there’s actually more.

Maybe from the inside, there’s a funnel, but from the outside- there’s over half a dozen places where someone may feel they “reported” an issue with nary an official direction to submit all bug reports and feature requests > here.

Where is there a lit of issues that have been reported, with status of each, and where other users can search what’s already been reported, as opposed to submitting the 100’th redundant bug report, so that user can instead chime in on what’s already submitted and provide additional insight and feedback.

I’m also on the team for a new product that’s just come out and have reported over a dozen items via their official feedback / ticket system and it’s a whole night and day experience. There’s numerous ways to do this, some allow up-voting of bugs / features, to guide the engineers to what’s going to affect the most people, soonest.

The Core Devices staff, people with a background in software development, multiple times, I’d assume they’d have this process laid out - for both customers, as well as programmers - before even starting the adventure. For a brand that’s about engagement with the user, and interaction, this seems to work against that goal.

I agree. In general, Core Devices is not very organised. It’s a big reason why I’ve stopped contributing code to them. IMO they need to both slow down and establish actual practices and structure to the way they work and hire more people.

Hi,

Watering and cooking several times a day is the pattern I drew mine around, and the big digits are the reason it exists at all — I wear reading glasses.

TTMM Timers holds eight timers under three tags, home, sport and cooking, four visible at a time. Each keeps the value you gave it, visible on the list, so you see what you are about to start. When one rings it takes the whole screen in large digits with a single word — NOW, STOP or CHECK, depending on the tag. The last minute counts down in seconds and the final thirty pulse.
