Any way to hide notification content?

I have use cases where I’d like to hide notification content on the watch from some/all apps, or at least not have the message content pop up without specifically opening the notification on the watch. A bit like android’s ‘hide notification content on lock screen’ setting.

Not that “I want privacy” needs justification, but for example I’d prefer to not have strangers be able to read incoming messages when I’m on public transport, or have colleagues see messages from a friend group shitpost-chat during work lunch, but I’d still want to be notified by the watch that [app/person/group] has a new message for you so that I can check it (either on the watch or on my phone) once it’s convenient.

Is there a way to do this currently, or at least something similar while still getting notification pings?

There’s no way to do that currently. A workaround I can think of is blocking the notifications and then mirroring the notifications using Android’s Tasker or Apple’s shortcuts but without the notification text.
