I can confirm that. My charge dropped just 1% in the last 24 hours. Like you, I have disabled all that consumes battery (health, backlight, watchface without seconds, …). Should easily last a month.
Hi all,
Thx for offering suggestions and help. I did as asked and filled a bug report. The guys over at Pebble are doing a great job and are helping me out to see what the problem is.
I couldn’t connect to my main phone for a month ( which I turned a bug report in on), so I just had it setting connected to an old phone and it only lasted 4 days with no backlight and no notifications or usage at all. I submitted a bug report and they had me factory reset it. Now I’m using it and it lasts about 4-6 days. It says the backlight is 66% of the usage, but I don’t have it set to come on with motion. It only comes on with button pushes. Is there a way to have it come on by tapping the screen but not every time a button is pushed?
Hi TaikoToaster,
I am having also some issue with the battery life. Turned of health services, bluetooth, backlight, tried different faces - my PT2 only lasts maybe 4 days.
Can you describe, what you exactly did to fix it? Only factory reset?
Any help appreciated! (I am considering already going back to my Fitbit…
)
Cheers!
I turned on the ambient light sensor for the backlight. It seems to be better than when I first used it. The only problem is sone situations where it thought is was bright enough I wanted to double tap to activate the backlight. The double tap won’t override the ambient light sensor. So I turned it off because it should slways light up if I double tap the screen.
Hi, yes do a factory reset from within the app (where the watch shows the pairing QR code). Also I recommend to remove the watch manually from your bluetooth device list in your phone before re-pairding. You may also want to use the default watchface (tictoc) for a day or two to check if the watch is working properly again out of box before making changes/installing apps again.
I’m very happy with my 20+ battery life with normal usage!
Activity tracking is on, backlight is on high, but on double-tap only. I use pebble mesh as a watchface, which doesn’t show seconds.
I’ve been loving my PT2 since I’ve received it, and have been wearing it daily for the last 2 weeks.
I wonder why there is such a huge difference in battery life between watches. Mine was just sitting on the table doing nothing and only lasted 4 days.
4 days battery life is certainly a bug, contact support and/or first try to factory-reset your watch which seems to be the most used fix for very bad battery life (I had this issue myself, barely 4 days battery life, now it’s 20+ days).
I received my PT2 4 weeks ago. Switched off everything that is battery draining, loaded it to about 83% and was curious how long it would last. Today it is down to 20%, so still has about a week of charge left.
Now I´m going to charge it up again and start experimenting with heart rate, step count, etc. ![]()
With the recent firmware updates, a new watchface (TimeStyle) and disabling of motion-activated backlight (I switched to screen double-tap), I now get a whopping 42 days of reported runtime, up from 21-ish 3 weeks ago.
Looks like the new firmware did wonders, used to have about 16 days, then changed to a more active watchface and went down to about 10, but now prediction is 19 with the same active face. Neat.
My battery life is not great. I do use HRM / sleep tracking and accept it will have quite the impact on my battery life, but with the recent update it seemed to have gotten worse. Disclamer: I do currently run an early build the the BLE HRM feature pulled (v4.30.1 + BLE HRM) and noticed a reduction in battery life coming from v4.23 + BLE HRM. (See BLE Heart Rate Monitor Sharing for Pebble Time 2 by bekriebel · Pull Request #1598 · coredevices/PebbleOS · GitHub )
It was already clearly in the days- instead of weeks-range while running the regular official version tho.
The Battery statistics currently predict 4 days (which is probably rather pessimistic, because I used a lot of HRM in the “prediction window”), but either way getting a week would already be pushing it. Before the v4.30.1 upgrade I got like 5-6 days.
The biggest avoidable battery drain would probably be the HRM during walks. The watch will automatically detect walks and enable HRM for that “activity”. My ideal solution would be, being able to just disable HRM for walks or “automatic activities” in general. If I want precise HRM data, I will start a workout manually. A less favored but still acceptable solution would be to disable the “automatic walk detection”. Unfortunately I have not found a way to do that without disabling Health Tracking / HRM for Runs.
Also the massive amount of “System” usage does look a bit concerning to me considering the battery runtime I’m getting.
It is still acceptable to me, as long as the battery lasts for a long weekend trip (4-5 days) without having to bring the charger, but currently that’s already too close for comfort. Once the battery starts aging I will very quickly get that anymore. Getting around 5-10 days with (mostly) keeping my current usage pattern would be my goal.
