I think the animations are cool, but I personally prefer no animations (as they take up extra time). Would it be possible to have a global toggle to turn off/on all animations? Thanks!
That would be nice. Saves time, battery and visual overload.
And this would also save power. Would love it
having the option would be great. Being able to switch out animations (like, defining your own instead of the default one) also, but that’s a different request. Anyone seconding that?
Having switched to Notification Centre 2 which has no animations when taking actions, I can say I much prefer it. The Pebble ones are charming for a while but after a while, I just want mark my message as read, not see the same little animation for the 100th time.
I would like that, too. Saving power and time is a great idea.
I too would like the option to disable animations, but I do know that e-ink displays often suffer from ghosting and I wonder if some of the animations may be designed to help with that.
Pebbles aren’t e-ink, they don’t have the same issue.
Thanks for the correction Flynn. Interesting, I thought they behaved differently.

The MiP displays are LCD screens that are able to persist the state of each pixel with no power for a while. You need to refresh the screen every once and a while but they don’t need constant power like regular LCD screens do. The transreflective part means that you can shine a light on the screen to see the screen better, and also have a backlight to light up the screen. E-Ink is a specific brand of e-paper that physically moves pigment particles to form a screen. Because it has physically moving components, you can get ghosting if you try to update a pixel too quickly. But it can display an image without power basically indefinitely.
