# Index wear and scratches

I don’t mind the scratches (though a tougher coating might be good for the next models) but today I noticed the rubber covering the button has started wearing off too.

I don’t know if that’s going to get worse and if I should keep it away from water if it does.

I should note that don’t have a manual job, and my clumsiness is not entirely terminal 😉 I don’t think I’ve submitted my Index to anything but regular everyday conditions. Has anyone else noticed similar issues?

Hey there! If you haven’t already, please submit a bug report in the Index tab of the app (I realize this isn’t a “bug” but it’s how we’re handling all potential hardware issues with Index).

My Index has taken some damage as well, and I’m also concerned about water resistance. I’ve only been using it for about a month. I think it might be from putting my hand in my pocket, which seems like a pretty “normal-use” thing. Thought I’d share the images here for anyone interested in wear patterns. I’ve been wearing it on my right index finger.

You may want to make a bug report like I did. Claudio said my ring had a factory defect and a replacement is on the way.
