Is there any insight on what features or updates are being worked on for the Index 01 or when they might be released? A few of the current bugs are really preventing me from using basic functionality and I’d love to start relying on it more.
What bugs are you seeing? I’ve had a pretty good experience with mine.
The primary bug I’m seeing is that if I set the iOS Pebble app to use the iOS Reminders app instead of the built-in reminders, everything except searches is tagged as type “reminder” and routed to the reminders app instead of to a named List as a type “Note” or “Checklist.”
Ex: Set the app to use iOS Reminders for reminders and built-in everything else. Create a custom list of “Travel Packing” in the app.
- Say “Remind me to water the plants at 8am tomorrow” - a reminder of “water the plants” is added to iOS Reminders with a due date of “tomorrow” at “8am” - awesome!
- Now say “Add sweaters to the Travel Packing list” - I would expect at least the item “sweaters” of type “Note” to be appended to the list named “Travel Packing.” Instead, I see an item of type “Sent” was created (for an item of type “reminder” that was sent to iOS Reminders") and sent to iOS reminders. To get this item to route properly, I have to view the item in the Index Feed and manually edit the item to change its type to “Note” and its location to the list “Travel Packing.”
Ex: Set the app to use everything built-in (not use iOS Reminders). The “Travel Packing” list is still present.
- Say “Remind me to water the plants at 8am tomorrow” - a reminder of “water the plants” is added to the Pebble app with a due date of “tomorrow” at “8am” but it is only visible while in the Pebble app. An in-app notification appears at the right date/time but it is easily missed since it is just a regular push notification and not a “reminder” notification.
- Now say “Add sweaters to the Travel Packing list” - the item “sweaters” of type “Note” is properly appended to the list named “Travel Packing.”
In summary, when the iOS Pebble app is set to use “iOS Reminders” instead of the built-in reminders, everything except a search is apparently is categorized as a “reminder” and sent there; even non-reminder items.
I really want to use iOS Reminders for their visibility elsewhere (watch, etc.) but currently setting the app to use that renders non-reminders nearly useless.
This is a bug that has been acknowledged but not yet fixed.
FWIW, I would also LOVE the ability to designate a custom List as either a Checklist or a Note List. That way, you could add an item to a named list and it would automatically be an item of type “Checklist”. Currently, only the default “Shopping List” does that. All manually-created Lists add items as type “Note”. You can manually change an item’s type after it has been added to a list, but that is a TON of manual work that should be automatic, IMHO. Ex: if I wanted to create a new List named “To-Do List”, I could add items by voice using the ring, but then for each added item, I would have to open the app, navigate to the list, tap the item and change its type to “Checklist”… for every item! Same goes if I want to create a shopping list for a specific store, like “Grocery List”, “Home Improvement List”, “Target List”, etc…
Anyway, I know this is a work in progress and I’m neither disappointed in the current functionality nor expecting quick changes/improvements. However, I do want to document this so that others with similar issues or requests can reference it later.
FWIW, I just updated the iOS Pebble app and while the release notes didn’t explicitly say that this issue was fixed, I thought I’d try it anyway. No changes, but here are screenshots showing the issue.
In this first shot, the app is set to use iOS reminders but everything else built-in. Note that the “Remind me…” item was routed properly, but the “Add…” item was also sent to iPhone Reminders whereas it should have been sent to the list named “To-Do List”
In this shot, I have changed the Reminders from iOS Reminders to Built-in Reminders between the two items shown. The earlier item (on the right) is when set for iOS Reminders and the newer item (on the left) is when the app is set for Built-in Reminders. In both cases, the statement was to “Add item x to list y”. You can see the left (newer) item has been added to the contents of the To-Do List from the item when the app was set to use built-in reminders.
And lastly, here are the details for the item that was improperly added to iOS Reminders even though the spoken phrase was to “Add x to y list”. Note that its type was set to “Sent” - the after-effect of an item with type “Reminder” that was sent to iOS Reminders.
Any updates on when this bug will be fixed?
I got pretty good feedback when I submitted a bug through the app.
Thanks.. I did that a few weeks ago and was informed that they’re working on it but with no estimate for when it will be fixed. For me, this a relatively fundamental issue that drastically changes the way it works.
